SPJ Region 3’s summer intern aspires to work in films

Facing her senior year at Mercer University – Macon (Center for Collaborative Journalism), Ireal James is a student journalist whose interest includes photography and videography that involves storytelling. This fall James will continue as a Mercer Cluster staff writer and a board operator at WMUB in Macon, Georgia. She also will continue her work for ESPN3 where she works with camera equipment, camera operation and audio operation during live production for sports games.

In addition to her work at CCJ, James is the photographer/videographer for the Mercer University Chapter of the National Society of Negro Women and also the Director of Marketing for the Mercer University Miracle Executive Board, an organization that raises funds for patients at the Children’s Miracle Network Hospital, Navicent Health in Macon.

James says she aspires to work as a screenwriter for movies. Her passion as a journalist and a film maker is to cover untold stories.

James is a SPJ student journalist from Mercer University.
