The Department of Journalism and Mass Communications at Savannah State University presented the second annual JMC Awards Show on Wednesday, March 30, 2016. The awards include several categories that exemplified excellence and hard work of students who are majoring in mass communications in all three concentrations offered in the program — online journalism, audio and video production and public relations and advertising.
The awards included three Chair’s Awards that included scholarship funds. This year, for the first time, the Savannah Advertising Club is donating $4,000 to the JMC program for scholarships. That amount, plus $500 from a JMC account, totaled the $4,500 in scholarship funds that went to students who have high grade point averages and also give outstanding service in the department and student media.
